  2. The Final Hours

Went out to Imperial College for drinks with the girls tonight. It was fairly mellow because Jenny and I have to be up early tomorrow, but it was a satisfying last night. I am incredibly sad to be leaving. I’m going to miss the independence, the people, the history of this beautiful city, and even the chilly weather. Being able to take the tube anywhere I wanted and always having something to do was absolutely wonderful. Even the schoolwork was interesting and I was really able to get a lot out of it. Every part of this trip weaved together so seamlessly. It was perfect. Pj put it best tonight at our farewell dessert: no one is ever going to understand these experiences the way the five of us will. And as I write that down here I can’t help but cry a little. This experience has been unforgettable.

London, it’s not goodbye- it’s see you later. And America, see you tomorrow.

  4. Wow.

London. It’s been real. Just got back from what may be my last real night out on the town since I have an early morning on Saturday to leave. I was out with Kyrsti and Jenny, who ended up being my closest two friends here in London. I am so happy and completely satisfied with my experience here.. even though I wish it would never end. I know when I get back I’m going to have to work my ass off to make some money, but every time I start to feel bummed I’ll just think of London and how I will be back here some day. I know that for a fact. Whether it’s after I finish college or many years down the line, I’ll be back.

    See you.

  7. The Final Class

Today was our last Shakespeare class. DT is coming in tomorrow before 10 just to collect our final assignments. He gave us all As on our commonplace/word of the day books. Today in class we talked about words for a bit and watched hilarious youtube videos/part of a Shakespeare movie with one of his London Walks guides in it. Oh, and a video of his wife dancing at her 60th birthday party. He calls her boopsie woopsie (the boops for short). He is so in love with this woman. It’s probably the cutest thing I have ever seen.

I just got back to my room after having lunch with a girl from my class named Lauren and now I’m off to meet up with my friend Michael from class. He’s the most wonderfully flamboyant Jersey boy ever. I’ll probably meet up with him and some others tonight for what may be my last night out on London town! How utterly depressing.

  9. Class Today!

Today David (DT) took us to Strand on the Green for a short walking tour and for a Shakespeare lesson in a pub. He walked us up and down the river, telling us little fun facts about various London things and then we ended up in this little pub where he bought us all a pint and some of us got lunch. By the end of our time there he had given us all the answers to the question portion of the final and I was a bit tipsy. He also told us that in his opinion grades don’t matter- it’s all about the experiences that you have and the knowledge that you gain from them. I am just beaming. I love this class so much, DT is amazing, his knowledge is so vast (since he owns London Walks I guess it should be), and he really makes us care about what he’s talking about. He’s hilarious and one of the best teachers I have had for English, if not overall. He also told us that he only takes classes he really likes out to a pub :)

What a wonderful start to the day. It’s 2PM now and I’m about to take a nap for a bit, then do some work on my final and possibly go out with a guy Geoff from my class with his French friends from Imperial. YAY LONDON!

  10. Got back from Paris about an hour ago and couldn’t be happier to be back in cold, rainy London! The trip was wonderful, but pretty exhausting since we packed everything into two days. The first day we arrived around 8AM and got right to work with sight seeing. We started off getting some food from a cafe, then found Notre Dame. Everything was beautiful, but the lines were long enough that we couldn’t really get inside most places. After Notre Dame we worked our way to the Eiffel Tower, stopping at a few other places on the way including various shops and street vendors. We didn’t realize it at the time, but we walked around five miles to get to the Eiffel Tower! After that adventure, we went and checked into our hotel, took a nap, had an AMAZING dinner down the road, and then went to the Arc de Triomphe and Champs-Elysees, seeing everything at night, including the Eiffel Tower all lit up! After all that, it began to rain and we headed back toward our hotel. Sarah went back to go to bed and Kyrsti and I went to a little club around the corner from the hotel. We met a bunch of really cool people from Paris and had a lot of fun!
In the morning we got up and did it all over again. Kyrsti wanted to go on a tour of Versailles so she broke away from us to figure that out and Sarah and I just wandered the entire day. We ate a bunch of great food, saw more amazing things, and had a great day! At the end we were pretty early for our train back, but when we had finally checked in, Kyrsti wasn’t there. She ended up missing our train, despite being in the station two hours early, and now she’s stuck there until the morning!
What a crazy, exhausting adventure. So glad to be back, but so pleased with how the trip turned out!
